EME Journal #1

Hi! My name is Melissa and I am from Connecticut. I am a senior at FSU majoring in psychology. I hope to continue at FSU for grad school and later become a school psychologist. I like to play soccer and volleyball as well as draw and paint. 

I started using technology in an education setting starting in middle school. We had a computer lab where we took one computer class per semester. We also had laptops that were shared within the school that one class could use at a time. In high school, we each received our own iPads that we could do schoolwork on. After two years, they decided to give us Chromebooks instead. My school system relied on Google Classroom to keep everything organized. 

For my personal learning network, I normally use technology. I feel like most teachers and professors these days mainly rely on technology, especially since Covid happened. I use Google Scholar the most to look for reliable articles and journals to reference. I also depend on my sister when the internet can't help me. There are also many resources that my sorority provides for us to get academic help when we need it.

Although this is not a traditional tool, and some might think it is silly, there are so many connections that can be made with other teachers on TikTok. We are able to see how other teachers are successfully making lesson plans, classroom techniques, and teaching strategies that we might be able to implement in our own classrooms.

EME Journal #8

 I enjoyed the Web Design assignment very much. Any assignment where I get to showcase my creativity no longer feels like homework. I learned how to create a usable website with links, lists, calendars, and visuals. I can use my new design skills to create a website for students and parents to use when I work in a school setting later on in life. Here is a link to my website ! To be completely honest, Diigo was a confusing site to me at first. I definitely had to utilize the tutorial videos to successfully use this website. However, I can see why it is beneficial. Though the design is. in my opinion, plain and outdated, I think the two most useful tools are groups and being able to annotate other sites and files. Diigo makes it easy to add your own notes to websites or articles without having to download them and use a separate application.
