EME Journal #3
Copyright is a legal right that a creator can obtain that prevents others from duplicating or using their work without their permission. Fair use laws allow the use of some copyrighted material without having to get permission first. As a teacher, it is important to explain these terms to our students so they understand that they cannot simply use someone else's work for their own projects or assignments. I would create tips that would always be easily accessible for my students on how to avoid any copyright infringement, as well as have small workshops to master these strategies.
Technology in the education system can make it difficult to monitor integrity in the classroom, since information is literally at the touch of a button. Academic dishonesty is, in my opinion, one of the biggest issues with technology in the classroom. There are systems that teachers can use to try and monitor cheating on quizzes and tests, like Honorlock, but there have still been problems even with these systems. For my classroom, I would have students take online quizzes or tests in the classroom, and have a proctor watch over from the back of the classroom to try and prevent tab-switching or using search engines to obtain the answers. Another issue with technology is decreased productivity. Even I find myself sometimes getting distracted when trying to get work done, especially at home when I could easily turn on the TV or go on my phone. To combat this in my classroom, I would set aside time for my students to work on their online assignments during school hours so they have less of a chance of getting distracted. I will explain the importance of holding themselves accountable. Plus, if they get their work done in class, they won't have any to do at home, which every kid is excited to hear.
The newsletter design assignment was honestly super fun! I love being able to display my creativity, especially with design. I learned how to create a more complex design from scratch on Canva, since before this class I normally would base my designs off of templates that other users make available. In the future, I could fix the wording on my banner. I was trying to do something cool where my name was the center and my class information was around it, but I think it only made reading it confusing. I can use the new skills I learned to create fun posters for my office when I become a school psychologist. Here is my newsletter design below:

I love your newsletter you created! The little ghost dog is so cute too! I enjoy seeing everyone else's but I just had to comment on it. :)
